Welcome to my Coastal Home Tour 2020!
Welcome friends! Come on in and check out my Coastal Summer Home Tour! I’m excited to share my take on traditional meets coastal decor with you all.
On this tour, we’ll be walking through each of the main living areas of my home and I’ll give a glimpse into how I styled each for Summer.
Summer Front Porch
The first stop on my Coastal Summer Home Tour is my summer front porch. We recently spruced up the porch and added curb appeal by painting our front door. I chose Benjamin Moore Cheating Heart which is a moody dark gray color. Our HOA has very strict restrictions for front door colors. They must be an earth tone, and I think this color falls into that category.

Not much changed from my Spring porch decor besides removing the Easter egg wreaths and bunny decor. My white outdoor lanterns are here year round, along with my white urn planters. I decided to keep the juniper trees for now. I replaced my spring doormat with this navy blue mat that says Welcome Friends. Being in quarantine for the entire spring, I was so ready to welcome friends into our home for summer. The door mat looks great layered over this gray striped rug. I love the combo of navy and stripes for a coastal feel.

Earlier in the summer from Memorial Day to July 4 my front porch was decorated with patriotic decor. Adding a few American flags to your everyday summer decor is an easy way to decorate for Patriotic holidays.

To the left of the front doors is a small sitting area. I love the lattice-back bench in this spot. The decor here is exactly the same as the spring except I added some American flags and different pillows. I added even more Patriotic decor like these pillows for Memorial Day and 4th of July.

Summer Entryway

In the entryway, I made quite a few changes this summer. The biggest change was replacing my entryway rug and painting the inside of our front doors. I used Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray on the front doors and love the lighter look. Its such a difference from the dark brown it once was. The new rug contrasts well with the new door color and adds a nice punch of ocean blue to the space. Not to mention the 6’X9″ rug size is a much better fit for this entryway than the previous rug. I love that this rug can lean both traditional and coastal.

I also switched out our popular quatrefoil mirror for one with a more coastal look. This round loop mirror was the perfect choice. By adding in some natural elements like coral pieces from my ever-growing white coral collection mixed with why blue and white chinoiserie pieces, I was able to achieve a traditional meets coastal look which you will see continues through the rest of the house. Shop some of my favorite white coral pieces below!

Summer Living Room

I made a few simple changes in the living room to add a coastal summer vibe. The art I choose each season to display on the Samsung Frame TV usually sets the mood and feel for the room. For summer I chose this organic blue, white and gold abstract art called Odyssey. This piece reminds me of the colors of the sea and helps create a dream- like space.
The small faux gardenia trees are still flanking the mantle this season. I didn’t add any thing else to the mantle to keep a clean and simplistic look.

I added a few of my traditional blue and white ginger jars amongst coastal decor like an oyster bowl and white coral on the bookshelves and coffee table. In addition to blue and white, I’ve always wanted to add touches of yellow for summer. I decided a few yellow tulips in the vases on my side tables would do the trick. I love the bright yellow. It screams summer to me.

Summer Kitchen
I brought in some pops of yellow into the kitchen using lemons. An adorable faux lemon tree sits in the center of island. I kept the vignette looking coastal by adding white coral and a blue and white ginger jar to the tray.

Beyond the island, I kept the range hood clean but added a blue and white lemon topiary art print to a frame and hung it on the backsplash using command strips. Seasonal art on the backsplash is a good idea if you want to change up the look of your space easily. I just found a downloadable print on Etsy and printed it out.

I really enjoy switching up the decor on my kitchen shelves! For summer, they are decorated with some of my favorite blue and white pieces and a few pieces of white coral from my collection.

Breakfast Nook
I brought pops of yellow and lemon decor to the breakfast table as well. For the centerpiece, I used an apothecary jar and filled it with faux lemons. I added white hydrangeas to the top of the jar. On either side of the centerpiece I placed white ginger jars and small blue and white ones as well. My favorite plates to bring out in the summer are my blue and white gingham ones. Something about them just screams summer to me. I layered a white plate on top and added a faux lemon and a napkin on each plate. Such an easy summery setup.

Desk Nook

This little desk nook is in the hallway right off the kitchen. I added a few summer touches and blue and white decor to the desk and shelves. I don’t work from here often but the kids used this space a lot during the spring for e-learning while in quarantine.
