Master Bedroom Sitting Area
Hi friends! I am so excited to share a new space with you today. When Safavieh contacted me to partner on a holiday room refresh I knew exactly which space I wanted to work on. Our Master Bedroom sitting area has been neglected since we moved into our home in December 2017. Early on, I had purchased a beautiful light gray settee which I originally placed at the foot of our bed. Eventually the settee was replaced by a bench and moved to the sitting area of our bedroom. I contemplated selling it and getting chairs for that space but I did really love the settee and decided I had to make it work.
Over the last two years, my head has been filled with so many ideas for this sitting area. I wanted it to be a place we could wind down at the end of long day. A place to retreat to when we needed a moment of silence. I envisioned a cozy spot in front of the windows that overlook the pond and water fountain right outside our bedroom. We have a gorgeous view and lots of natural light pouring into this space from morning to mid-afternoon.
My Vision
I am excited to see my vision for this space become a reality through this collaboration with Safavieh. Being a Safavieh fan for many years, I was familiar with their furnishings and I chose pieces that I knew would transition well in this space through each season.
For this holiday refresh, I wanted to make our bedroom elegant and cozy. I added gold touches, a little sparkle, and luxurious cozy soft texture.
This is the concept board I created when planning the space. A few items have changed but the overall idea is there. I start every space with a design concept before making any purchases.
About Safavieh
The Safavieh brand was established over 100 years ago and to this day they provide quality, durability, beauty, and artistry in their beautiful furnishings. Their collections range from the finest antique and historical reproductions to the most fashion-forward contemporary styles. The brand offers several lines of home furnishings including finely crafted furniture, lighting, accessories and even a Safavieh Couture line.
Safavieh is a leading manufacturer and distributor of fine rugs and home furnishings. I have yet to be disappointed with their products or service. They truly have something for everyone at every price point and decor style.
Sheepskin Rug
Safavieh has a beautiful collection of sheepskin rugs. In fact the first thing I purchased for this bedroom was an 8X10 sheepskin rug by Safavieh. I love how it grounds the space under our bed. This rug has held up well the last three years and is so soft and cozy underfoot.
I knew I wanted the bed area and the sitting area to look cohesive. To accomplish this, I chose the same sheepskin rug in size 4X6 to place in front of the settee. I am so happy with the cozy vibe adding this rug brings to our space.
Aslan Coffee Table
I knew early on a coffee table was a must for this space. Visions of reading a book with my morning coffee in this space or spending a lazy weekend evening sipping on a glass of wine danced in my mind. I chose Safavieh’s Aslan Coffee Table which has a refined design that embraces both classic and transitional styling. The coffee table comes in the prettiest antique gold leaf finish. The two tiers are perfect for displaying collectibles. I am so happy with this beautiful coffee table in this space.
Sorsi Floor Lamp
Safavieh has a huge selection of lighting and one of the more unique pieces I chose for this space is the Sorsi Floor Lamp. I knew I wanted a side table for this space and this lamp comes with a glamorous accent table built right in. It’s a two for one and I couldn’t love it more! The brass gold body of the lamp is so sleek and striking. The linen shade is angled and can be moved up or down to direct the light where it is needed. I also really love the white marble base as well. The lamp is high quality and gorgeous.
Safavieh Holiday Pillow and Bed Runner
In addition to quality rugs, furniture and lighting, Safavieh offers beautiful accessories, throws, and pillows. I chose their beautiful Enchanted Evergreen Throw Pillow to add festive elegance to the space. I love the gold sparkle of the tree motif on the front of the pillow. The material is super soft and luxurious.
To make the space even cozier, I draped the Alexi Faux Fur Bed Runner on the arm of the settee. It looks equally as beautiful lying across the bottom of a bed. Additionally the bed runner is the perfect wrap for a chilly night. This is a really unique piece that would make a great gift. I especially love the knit detail and fringe ends that combine so nicely with the tufts of soft cream fur.
Winter Bedding
I switched out my coastal summer bedding for a more wintry look. I am continuing to use the lightweight white quilt on the bed as the main cover, mainly because I tend to sweat during the night and don’t need anything heavy. For the winter season, I’m loving the luxe look of the gray velvet comforter folded at the bottom of the bed. The antelope print bolster pillow is an old favorite I brought back out. I simply placed it in front of a faux fur euro throw pillow that adds additional texture and warmth to the bedding. Two king size quilted gray velvet shams sit amongst the ruffled white euro pillows.
Nightstands
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my nightstands. They are actually narrow console cabinets. The space on either side of our bed and under the windows is wide, so I felt console cabinets would be a better fit than a typical nightstand. These exact cabinets are sold out. Here is a link to similar ones and the acrylic hardware I used on my nightstands.
I added a few mini Christmas Trees to the nightstands. They had a burlap base that I covered in fur fabric and secured with a white velvet ribbon. My mercury glass tree collection found a new home in the bedroom this year.
Holiday Decor
And what would a holiday refresh be without a Christmas tree and wreaths? I love the 7.5 foot slim tree placed next to the settee. The tree urn is one of my all time favorite purchases from Ballard Designs. It is so pretty and I love how it elevates the look of the tree.
Adding a wreath to the blinds behind the settee and on the mirror above the bed really helps tie the holiday theme together.
I included a lot of holiday decor I already owned to decorate the coffee table and nightstands in the room.
The Fandelier
Another room update I can not neglect to share is our new Fandelier. A fandelier is a chandelier with a fan built in and I have to tell you how amazingly beautiful and view changing this is. I was waking up to a huge brown eye-sore of a fan in this room everyday. I am one who needs a fan to sleep so I didn’t think I had many options until I laid eyes on the Fandelier. The blades are clear acrylic and the chandelier itself is stunning. The blades sit tucked inside the top of the chandelier until you turn the fan on and then they extend out. This is the 42″ size and though much smaller than the previous fan, it puts out just as much cool air. I am extremely happy with this purchase and decision to update the lighting in this room.
It has been such a joy having you here. I so appreciate that you stopped by to check out my Master Bedroom Holiday Refresh with Safavieh. Safavieh has generously sponsored this post but all opinions are my own. I hope you were able to get some ideas for decorating your bedroom for the holidays.
